OUR SMASH REPAIR PROCESS

Here is a brief overview of how Collision First will return your car to pre-accident condition:

STAGE 1 - Organising the Repairs

Before work begins we need to liaise with your insurance company, obtain approvals, source parts and prepare an estimate of costs. Simply bring your car to our workshop for an inspection and quote. No appointment is needed! We’ll prepare an estimate of the parts and labour costs and send it to the insurance company. When the insurance company has assessed the repair costs and accepted the estimate, we’ll contact you to book a suitable repair time.

Stage 1

STAGE 2 - Panel Repair

This is when the repair to the body and structure of your car really starts. If your vehicle requires extensive chassis rail repairs, it is set up on a Car-o-Liner. This is a diagnostic and measuring system designed to assist in returning your car to factory specifications. Panels are repaired, trial fitted, inspected and tested for alignment before moving on to the paint process.

STAGE 3 - Painting

A flawless paint finish takes time but the results are well worth it. Your car will look as good as new! To eliminate overspray we carefully cover the panels not being painted. The repaired or replaced panels are cleaned and primer is applied to seal and prevent corrosion. Panels are placed under infrared drying lamps, then sanded when the primer is fully cured. Paint colour is matched to existing panels and mixed. The car and necessary parts are placed in the spray booth and painted, cured and dried. When fully cured, the panels are removed from the spray booth, polished and denibbed for an even smoother surface, ready for assembly.

STAGE 4 - Final Assembly + Quality and Safety Checks

Your car is now ready to be reassembled back in the workshop.

At this stage, your car will look great but we need to make sure it is safe to drive. The safety checks will depend on the type of accident and repair work undertaken (e.g. a wheel alignment, computer diagnostic scans, test drives).

Once all test are carried out and approved, your car will be ready to get back on the road.

Final Stage

At Collision First, we pride ourselves on our superior service and communication.
We make every effort to minimise delays, always keeping you informed of any progress or changes.
You’ll never have to wonder how your car repair is going!
